Beef Rendang

Beef Rendang is one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic and flavourful dishes, celebrated for its rich blend of spices and tender, slow-cooked beef. This recipe features a freshly prepared rempah (spice paste) and toasted coconut, which infuse the meat with deep, aromatic flavours. The key to a perfect rendang is patience—slowly braising the beef until it becomes melt-in-your-mouth tender and absorbs every layer of spice. Finished with fragrant chopped kaffir lime leaves, the dish delivers an authentic taste with a refreshing citrus aroma. For a lighter version, half of the coconut milk is replaced with low-fat milk, while coconut oil can be used to fry the rempah for added flavour and a healthier twist.
